Collision Repair Technology

Repair, refinish and straighten frames of cars, trucks and SUVs in the Collision Repair Technology program at Thaddeus Stevens. The program focuses on the I-CAR curriculum, which ensures you’ll get the knowledge and skills required to complete safe and quality repairs.

You’ll also use an industry-leading, environmentally-friendly water-borne system for painting vehicles, one of the first systems of its kind to be used on the East Coast to educate in this field.

Traffic mishaps and motor vehicle accidents occur all the time, so repair technicians are always in demand. Jobs available in this field include auto body technicians, paint technicians, air frame fabricators, detailers and appraisers.

"There’s always going to be work."

“I really love cars and this was one of the majors that give you hands-on experience working with cars, doing bodywork, painting. It’s been fun. It’s great if you like to see a before and after. A car comes in really banged up, and then you fix it and it comes out looking beautiful.

“The instructor is really good with the students. He’s really one-one-one with you. If you ask him a question, he’ll stop what he’s doing and he’ll go over to you and help you with whatever you need help with. You learn a lot. You can do a lot of your own projects. You can paint your own car. I think we’ve done three student cars already.

“Collision repair is a good industry. There’s always going to be work. People always crash, so there’s always going to be cars that need to be fixed.”
