Computer Software Engineering Technology

Computers have become integral in developing and operating modern industry. From providing means of communications, to operating machines, to facilitating international commerce, to systems animation, computers and their related software programs make things possible.

The Computer Software Engineering Technology program prepares students to design, develop and build customized software programs for specific applications. Students will learn basic programming, application of software architecture, and verification and validation principles to create software programs that address known specifications. The program emphasizes a practical hands-on education as software projects are required each semester.

Upon completion of the program, graduates will find a wealth of employment opportunities in a variety of businesses and industries. Unlike some disciplines which are tied directly to a specific technical area, graduates of this program will work in small businesses, large industries, private organizations, software specialty businesses, IT departments, government and more.

"Probably the best years of my life."

“When I was in high school, a recruiter came and talked about Thaddeus Stevens, and I thought, ‘Wow, this is a college I never heard about before, but it sounds very affordable and they have a great record getting jobs for students.’

“I always had a passion for computers and technology, and I thought this would be a nice supplement to a business degree (earned in 2017). I love the numbers in business. They have to be precise. There are no open interpretations. I hope to see myself working in a software company, either in the trenches or even a management role.

“I’ve also loved working in the Career Services department as an intern. It was probably the best years of my life. I’ve learned so much talking to employers and other students, and I love the look of people when you help find them internships and jobs.”
